A very nice residential area
There is a river nearby that is a home to many fish and migratory birds. There are also many open spaces such as parks and ancient temple grounds with lots of greenery and fresh air. This location is convenient for access to some of Kyoto's major historical sites, such as the World Heritage site Kamigamo Shrine and Daitokuji temple.

Eight-minute walk north of Kitaoji subway station
(Kitaoji station is only 13 minutes from Kyoto's main railway station)

Directions
From Kyoto Station
A)by subway ¥250yen
1 Take one of the front cars on the subway train to Kokusai_kaikan.
2 Get off at Kitaoji station(station# K04)
3 Go to the end of the platform and go up the escalator
4 Go through the ticket gate, turn left and go up
the escalator again
5 Walk 100 meters to Imamiya dori (street)
6 Then follow the red line on the map above,
that is, turn left and walk along Imamiya dori,
then turn right at the first traffic lights.
It takes about 7 minutes to get to
the "Y" intersection of Gen'i dori
(there is a very tall tree and a huge landscape rock
at the intersection),
turn left here, then take the first right.
Yurakuso is the second on your left.
( look for the Yurakuso sign.)
(about 1000m from Kitaoji station)
