Property Description
Heidi and Ian invite you to enjoy the delights of Marlborough from their two-bedroom, self-contained straw bale cottage accommodation. Strawberry Cottage is built in the middle of Heidi and Ian's 50-acre vineyard five minutes’ drive from Blenheim, in the heart of Marlborough’s world famous Sauvignon Blanc vineyards at the top of the South Island. Each of the vineyard cottage’s two bedrooms is luxuriously appointed. The generous open plan kitchen, living and dining area overlooks the herb garden, heated pool, life-size chessboard, and surrounding vineyard to the hills.
Strawberry Cottage is around the corner from Montana’s Brancott Estate vineyard one of Blenheim’s most popular wedding and conference venues. It is also within easy walking distance of Mt Riley vineyard and the historic Cob Cottage.
During your stay, take a dip in the pool, a ride on Timmy the family pony, or enjoy some quiet contemplation by the Opawa River, which meanders through our property. Taste some of the olive oil pressed from our olive grove.
A port-a-cot and high chair are available if you are travelling with little ones, and we can usually arrange a babysitter if you fancy a night out in one of Marlborough’s fine restaurants. We are happy to help with recommendations, bookings, and pickups and drop-offs.
The cottage is self-contained, and we provide provisions for a light and tasty continental breakfast or bacon and free range eggs.
About your hosts
Originally from England, Heidi has travelled extensively in Europe, Australia and the Middle East. She met Ian (whose travels have focused mainly on Asia) when he was running a sheep station near Fairlie in the McKenzie country.
They moved north to Marlborough and started growing Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay grapes for Oyster Bay vineyard six years ago. They built Strawberry Cottage from hay they grew themselves and lived in it while they built their award-winning house next door.
Strawberry Cottage is in the heart of Marlborough’s world famous Sauvignon Blanc vineyards at the top of the South Island. We are a few minutes’ drive from central Blenheim, just off State Highway 1 to Kaikoura and Christchurch. We are 30 minutes’ drive from Picton where ferries operate to and from Wellington in the North Island.
The glorious Marlborough Sounds and Queen Charlotte walking track are also within an easy half-hour drive from Strawberry Cottage.
There are seven golf courses within 20 km of Strawberry Cottage: Fairhall, Blenheim, Rarangi, Wairau Valley, Awatere, Nopera, and Kenepuru Sounds.
The Nelson Lakes and Rainbow skifield are an hour and a half’s drive from us.
Whale watching at Kaikoura is an hour and a half away.

Directions
Strawberry Cottage is 5 minutes' drive from central Blenheim. It is just off a side road from State Highway 1 on the Kaikoura side of Blenheim in Marlborough. Drive towards Kaikoura on State Highway 1 towards Kaikoura. Just after the historic Cob Cottage and before Montana's Brancott winery, turn left onto Malthouse Road. Turn right at the red mailbox and continue down the dirveway, turning right after the Silklen Estate gateway.
